Towards a More Sustainable Dutch Film Industry
A small research team, consisting of Fieke Spoler, Annemijn Potappel and Marijn Kallenberg and led by Dr. Judith Keilbach, is investigating the how Dutch film production practices currently impact the natural environment, and how sustainable alternatives could look like.
The team approached the Netherlands Film Fund with the question of what should be done to make the Dutch film industry more sustainable as, according to the researchers, too little attention is currently paid to the environmental effects that the production and consumption of film entails in the Netherlands.
In cooperation with the Filmfonds, they are implementing and evaluating more sustainable ‘best practices’ at six Dutch film productions, hoping to deliver a report with which film professionals in the Netherlands can get to work at the end of 2021.
